Great staff. Great hotdogs. Great shots and beers. The music jumps genres regularly so if you dont like the first , the next will probably be a whole new thing. Mayonnaise as the oil of choice to brown the perfect split top bun; not a hot dog...think lobster roll bun, is a signature detail that you'll now see copied at other establishments. I, for one, am glad because it's less beady and more toasty.. Finely chopped onions and jalapenos make for smooth burn and even distribution...a detail often overlooked
Always fun times had at the Cardinal bar. Their hot dogs hit the spot every time. Location is perfect, right off of Glenwood south but not in a busy way. We love it here … A lot of cool bars are closing down in Raleigh. I hope y’all stay around for a long, long time (:
Preface this by stating we went at lunch time and it wasn't busy. Simple order system where you check what you want on your dogs. Fun signs everywhere. Bartenders super personable. Hot dogs had good texture, perfect amount of tasty toppings and loved the toasted buns.
Pretty nice and calm place. Lots of variety for liquor and beers.
Hotdogs are good and have a verity of toppings as well as veggie options.
Went on a Friday night and there’s were only a few people inside.
They have a nice porche for outdoor sitting.
If you’re looking for a calm place to unwind and get some cheap drinks this is the place.
Really great dive bar...awesome bartenders...fun atmosphere...cool music..and great hot dogs!
I was buying a $100 copy of Portishead's Dummy at Honky Dory and I asked the young lady working, "What's good to eat around here?" She says she just came from Cardinal Bar because she "craves" their hot dogs. I say "you're a real Patty Duke." I then look around the room for any acknowledging gesture... nothing.
Long story short, I ordered these dogs and loved them all! I now crave them too.
I recommend... onions, mustard, chili. Top dog, pictured.
Great hot dogs but the drinks are fairly pricey for the lowkey atmosphere
Really cool eclectic bar a little off the beaten path of Glenwood bars and restaurants. Pretty good local beer selection and they've got a fully stocked bar. Their hot dogs are very good too. It's nice that they have a parking lot and it faces a pretty sweet mural. 4 stars because they didn't give a price breakdown of my check which I don't really like. Other than that, its really chill bar with a nice atmosphere and good views of downtown Raleigh.
